Creating and editing recipes

Open the form with Add Recipe, or Edit in a recipe's actions menu.

  • Ingredients are free text, one per line, like 200 g spaghetti. The amount and unit are read as you type.
  • Steps go one per row. Drag a row to reorder it.
  • Photos go on the recipe or on a step. A step can have several.

Headings with #

Start an ingredient or a step with # to make it a heading, like # For the sauce. Headings are not numbered as steps.

Type / and a recipe name in a step to link that recipe, for example a dough or a stock you keep as its own recipe. Readers tap the link to open it.

Step ingredients with @

Type @ in a step and pick an ingredient. The word goes into your sentence as plain text, and the ingredient shows as a chip under the step.

Use Link ingredient below a step to add chips without changing its text; "add the spices" can link all the spices.

For ingredient lines with an amount, a prompt asks how much this step uses. Type the number and press Enter, or press Escape to use the whole line.

Amount… on a chip changes it later: half, a third, a quarter, or an exact amount. On a line of five eggs, entering 3 makes the step read 3 eggs. Tap a chip to remove it.

See Step ingredients for how these show on the recipe.
